Cost Of Living 1983
If you’ve visited the Corvette Museum and admired the machines on display, you may recall this non-descript white 1983 model. Why would you recall this particular vehicle? Well, because it is the only 1983 model year made.
As it turns out, General Motor’s intent was to introduce the new 1983 body style in the Fall of 1982, however, due to more upgrades, it was pushed back to the Spring of 1983 and designated a 1984. “Built on June 28, 1982, it was the fourth of 43 “pilot assembly” cars made to validate production processes and for other engineering, testing and training purposes. “ Typically these pilot assembly cars are crushed since they cannot be sold. Luckily, this one (RBV098), somehow, slipped through the cracks. It was found neglected outside by a plant manager; it was detailed, painted with a flag motif and put on display at the Museum. GM loaned the car for display at the museum when it opened in 1994 and later donated it. So if you visit, be sure to stop by and see the only 30th anniversary corvette that exists in the world.
